Oh...the wife got me a Richard Petty experience. We went to Charlotte and I drove 8 laps with a max speed of 126 MPH. I didn't quite have enough to do the track max for amateurs...I think that was 160 MPH

This Pic is sort of "Right Stuff"ish.

Ok...I'm so terrible at updating so here's what I sorta remember. Galacticon in March was awesome. A great event put together by the Tidewater Alliance.
Snowtrooper is complete and ready for Celeraton IV...trying to get X-Wing pilot ready for Celebration IV too.

BSG thoughts

So the spouse unit and her ability to pick apart the goings-on of a show has suggested that not only is Baltar a Cylon but he's probably number 1. He's possibly a failed experiment or perhaps the first part of this 'evolution' thing they speak of. I have to say that is a nice bit of speculation. I am wondering how he survived the initial bombardment on Caprica if six didn't make it. Besides, he didn't look too torn up when he got on board the raptor. Oooh, maybe his little lake cottage was just too far outside the radius of the blast to be overly effective. Ok, I guess I'm reaching. Sigh, oh ponder on...

Current events

I'm just going to comment on current world events. I'm not sure what I think about the conflict in Israel and Lebanon. I'm trying to see if there's a side of the conflict that I favor over the other. I haven't been able to do so. I'm not sure I really care. I know that sounds bad but it's like "Here we go again" to me. It's difficult since this (to the root of everything) is simply a religious disagreement that has been ongoing for millennia. I don't find actual physical conflict over any religion to be a satisfactory reason to fight over. Sure it's fine to disagree but to kill in the name of your preferred deity is beyond me. What if the UN never did carve out Israel out of Palestine in 1946..or was it '45? Hmmmm, certainly you can go as far back as 1917 to the U.S. Congress that failed to ratify the League of Nations. Without U.S. support the League failed thus giving rise to Hitler thus unleashing his "Final Solution" and making world leaders at the end of WWII feel an obligation to the Jewish people and creating the state of Israel. Would we have this conflict today if the state was never created? I don't know...way too many variables and situations...maybe something worse would be happening...or would have already happened. Oops...that was a lot of 'what-ifs' that don't really matter. It all boils down to intolerance on both sides doesn't it?
Well anyway, what I think the U.S. should do? I really don't know. It's pretty costly and I'm not sure I would want an increase in military budget while cutting domestic programs. The local and federal agencies had a hard enough time dealing with the natural disasters last year and the costs of those are still continuing to climb. Katrina has already surpassed 9-11 in terms of damage in dollars (not to mention lives) and is not close to being completely assessed. So you can't fund the military and take care of your citizens at the same time without trimming the fat somewhere and it's always the poor and underprivileged who'll get cut. And of course, there's North Korea's nuclear plan. This seems to be more troubling to me. There's no way we can militarily do anything. I'm sure there are several "James Bond" plots going on out there...

Liked Rockstar: Supernova. Don't quite have a favorite vocalist just yet and I don't know who specifically I don't like either. Some of the 'cleaner' folks probably won't last too long. Looks promising so far though.
Also waiting for Big Brother tomorrow. Yep, this one's a guilty pleasure until Lost and Galactica come back on. Oh, and I can't forget How I Met Your Mother. I don't watch too much TV but I do get pretty (best Arnold voice) pumped up when I do watch.

Da Vinci Code film

Gonna see the film tonight. I have to say this is the first movie I am going to see where I read the book first. I'm not much of a fiction reader, but when I borrowed it I blew through it quite quickly since it was such a good read. Quite a good pace I must say too.
Why 'the church' is so up in arms I don't know. If anything, the more hoopla they create the more people will want to read or see the film...something everyone knows. I guess that's good for the publishers and producers (wish I had in on that action). Anyway, I guess 'the church' just doesn't want people to think and feels threatened if anyone would just even entertain the ideas presented. Personally, that intrigued me but it didn't change anything in me. I was intrigued mostly by the 'whodunnit' aspect, but it was fun to think too. So now, I'm really looking forward to seeing everything on film. I hope they paid a good amount of attention on the score too. I'm a big stickler about that...

Why? I ask... why?

So, here I was driving into work on time for a change. There's a four lane road with two lanes going the same direction on the last leg headed to my wonderful place of employment. It's a straight shot at 55mph. Ok, so I'm in the right lane going about 60 and this guy zooms past me in the left lane and gets in front of me. Fair enough.
So what does knucklehead do now?
He slows down....not 55 not 50 but 45! There's no one in the other lane, he could have stayed there...why?...I ask...why?
